Event Cancellation: RS Tera 2020 World Championships South Africa
The International RS Tera Class Organization, together with the RS Tera Worlds 2020 Organizing Committee, announces the cancellation of the 2020 RS Tera World Championships at Pine Lake Marina, South Africa due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. This is for both the RS Tera Sport and RS Tera Pro Class.
The organizers of the event and the International RS Tera committee deeply regret this situation. Following the several national restrictions, World Health Organization guidance and the risk of further spreading the COVID19 pandmic virus the committee feel this is the necessary and only outcome.
The RS Tera Class have worked together with a lot of volunteers to make the South African RS Tera World Championships a stunning event which was going to be a memory for lifetime for both the sailors and families supporting them.
Over the last couple of days the RS Tera Class and the South African organizing committee have received plenty of warm welcoming support from parents and supporters on this tough decision to make. The RS Tera International class appreciates the understanding of the consequences for this decision and sees this as one of the positive values of the sailing class we all love.
The committee is working hard to find ways to reduce the impact of this decision for sailors that have already entered and paid for the event. Many costs have already been made but we will update all participants in the next month on what can be achieved on this front to make the consequences as small as possible.
We want to thank all volunteers, especially Mireille Layland, our front lady of the South African RS Tera Class, for all the hard work.
We will come back, cooler and stronger than ever before in South Africa!
All the best,
The RS Tera International Committee
