International Class President Helena Barne's Review of 2019

Tera Sailors all over the world!
We have another amazing Tera year behind us and I hope you all have some terrific memories of the fun sailing & all the new friends you met in 2019.
As the Class President I am so impressed with what you have all achieved during the year.
Especially a big thank to all you British RS Tera sailors and coaches for in many ways leading the fleet and being role models for many countries and sailors.
Together we will continue to be a welcoming and friendly Class with our very own ‘RS Tera hug’ that Swedish sailors have introduced at events to show everyone just how inclusive we are as a Class.
In 2019, Sweden and Ljungskile welcomed 85 Tera sailors to the RS Tera World Challenge Trophy. Sweden embraced us with lovely summer weather and light challenging sailing conditions on the race course. The sailors and families watched tight racing from the surrounding islands and learned about how we all can help with arranging environmentally friendly sailing events. Not to forget about the lovely mussels at the Sailing Party and the Organic, local hamburgers that was also served.
In Sweden we were all extremely happy to meet sailors from Ukraine, Malta, USA, Lithuania, Romania, Denmark, Switzerland, South Africa, Great Britain, Sweden. We were especially happy to get the opportunity to meet the 13 Danish sailors together with the host country Sweden and their 15 sailors.
At the RS Tera UK Nationals held by Brightlingsea Sailing Club on the last days of August we had an amazing fleet of 136 Tera sailors including Sport, PRO and Regatta Fleet. This gives us another magnificent organized RS Tera event with maybe a national record of totally 136 UK Tera sailors?
2019 RS Tera North American Championships in Dana Point California mid September showed us two days of intense championship racing with 44 sailors. Sailors as young as 7 up to age 15 from: Maine, Colorado, Northern California and San Diego to Santa Barbara.
This is so cool! Entries from American RS Tera sailors are reported to the RS Tera Worlds 2020!
The International RS Tera Class Association together with RS Sailing can follow the outcome of hard work to grow the fleet in more countries, which really has begun to pay off.
2020 RS Tera season rocks off already in Eastern, 4-9 of April, with the RS Tera Worlds held in Pine Lake Marina, South Africa. This promises to be amazing and the resort is in a stunning location on the shore of Swartvlei Lake, offering fantastic views of the lake and sailing against a backdrop of majestic mountains.
“Early bird” entry close tonight on New Years eve, so take the advantage of the early entry price! It’s a great opportunity to meet other “old” and new RS Tera sailors.
Information about the RS Tera Europeans in Travemünde 17-20 of July 2020, will soon be published and are to be found at: www.rstera.org
Finally – with this photo from the South African RS Tera Nationals 2019, I wish you all a very Happy New Sailing Year!
