Report, Daniel J Lewis Age 9
On Saturday the 4th of September 2010, there was a training course for RS Teras at Hollowell Sailing Club. It was my second time sailing a Tera on my own but to get more confident I joined in.
The weather was warm with light winds, I think that is the hardest conditions to sail in because the wind is shifty. It was easy to rig the Tera and get on the water and was great to sail with loads of other Tera sailors.
First we did a windward leeward course, we enjoyed learning how to roll tack, go round marks and heel to windward on a run without doing a death roll!
After that we did starting practice and some triangle sausage mini races. It was hard to know when to start without a watch but none the less I came first in one of the mini races.
On Sunday 5th September there was an open meeting, I came 12th overall with a 6th in race 1 just behind my sister Rebecca. I had a really good time and hope more people will want to do the same.
Hollowell SC Open, Sunday 5 September
Report, Crispin Beaumont, National Squad 2010
The first Hollowell SC RS Tera open was well attended, with 18 boats taking to the water, many of these being new to Tera racing. Due to the variable conditions sailors’ abilities were tested at the windward mark where the breeze crept over the dam and dispersed over the lake. The racing was close with the more experienced sailors coming through. Crispin Beaumont (Bartley SC) won the Sport fleet with three wins out of four followed by Rebecca Lewis (Draycote SC) then Jamie Aldridge(Burnham SC) in a close battle for second spot and the best placed Hollowell sailor was Niall Holman taking fourth. In Pro Flynn Davies (Burnham SC) rounded off a perfect birthday with four wins out of four, second and third places where taken Josh Aldridge (Burnham SC)and Will Robinson Rutland Water SC) respectively.
