Back to RS Tera News Written on 16-Aug-2010 by debbiedarlingHere's a great report from James telling us what happened at the Worlds :
The RS Tera World Championships were held at Carnac, Brittany, France. Carnac Yacht Club was full of Teras and Fevas getting pumped up for the week's sailing. Monday 26th was the first official race. The startline was full of very capable sailors such as Josh Aldridge and Matt French, who ended up finishing 2nd and 3rd .On the first day when the one minute gun went nerves on the start line started to build, it was one of the most nerve racking expirences of my life and for a lot of others.
Every one knew what their goal was and what they had to do to win which made the fleet even more competitive, my goal was to sail consistently in the top five and be fast off the start with some cheeky port tack flyers.
Through out the week there was a fantastic sea breeze that kept on picking up, this all went down for great racing where everyone tried their hardest and sailed their best. Matt French and Josh Aldridge both suffered a race with gear breakages. Pietro Graceffa (Italy) had three good firsts but couldnt get the consistency whilst Josh had an inspired third day with two wins to pile on the pressure with Matt always close but I managed to hold it together. It was a huge relief to win the last race on day three even if it was embarrasing to step onto the podium at the end.of the week. A great week I'll never forget. All the sailors thanks go to the Carnac YC and race officials, RS, sponsors Allen, our GB and local coaches and, not least, our families for getting us there.
